You guys know I'm pretty laid back when it comes to people using my drawings.
Be it for drawing practice, wallpapers, fan-stuff and so on and so on...as long as credit is given I'm pretty much ok with it!
Just taking artworks done by others and claiming them as your own work...that's the part that crosses the fine line. (At least for me)
Being on here for nearly 10 years made me develop a thick skin. Sad as it is.
I don't get into useless discussions with art thieves, as this is exactly what they want...attention!
I always report the stolen artwork, close the browser window, take a deep breath and let the busy worker bees of deviantart do their job.
Now yesterday on the other hand, I encountered a special case of art thievery on here.
I won't link you to anything, as I do not like giving said person more attention than needed.
Some precious members on here informed me about the fact, that one of my drawings was being posted by someone else.
Not only that....my name was cut off and said user even claimed to have worked on it for over a month.
Cropping watermarks off is the worst....and I do not appreciate it in ANY way and I know for sure that other artist see it the same way.
I did my thing, reported it, thank the people who told me about it and you know...enjoyed my day.
BUT of course, some people just don't know when it is enough, said user opened like 645284 other accounts and posted my drawing again.
And not only that, no...it was offered as a print on here
Now this I do not appreciate. Like not at all.I actually took the time to call a lawyer and informed the person about that.
You see, lawyers are awesome...they help me sue you
Awesome isn't it?
It's a sad thing, that it even had to go this far.
I had so many friendly people asking for permissions to use my work and I seldom say no, but this...this goes a little to far.
But I wanna take the opportunity to thank all of the people who took the time to send me a note, made a comment about it, or even spend time trying to talk to that person.
YOU guys are awesome!
So let's talk:
HOW DO YOU HANDLE ART THIEVERY IN GENERAL?
